EDA awarded marketing grant
The Morgan County Economic Development Authority was recently awarded a $2,500 marketing grant from the West Virginia Development Authority.
"Our first action is to update and upgrade our website," said Betsy Heath, EDA director. "The Marketing Committee met with Darla Gaige of Growth Media to outline plans." There are two new features that will engage the community in the process of attracting business. The first is to develop an alphabetical listing of all businesses in the county. Businesses may submit their name to email@example.com.
The list will be updated monthly.
The second new feature is to enhance the listings for available locations including EDA owned property and commercial properties either listed by a realtor or being offered privately. A form is being developed for these listings. It will include all pertinent information for sale or lease, for buildings or land. Realtors can link to their listings. Private sales may also offer contact information whether a website or phone.
"One of the most important aspects of bringing new business here is to have the right site for them," said Heath. "We want to make it as easy as possible for a business to find its place in Morgan County."
Success stories will also be a major feature of the upgraded website. "People like being associated with winners," said Heath. "We'll be showcasing our diverse and unique businesses, major employers and hospitable business climate.”
Once the website is complete, remaining funds will be used to develop fulfillment material to support the website as well as a possible familiarization tour for site locators.
The web address will remain unchanged: www.morgan countyeda.com.
