Fire took them both

The top postcard of the Washington Hotel sports a 1914 postmark. It shows the early days of the hotel and a street scene of a group of boys. Sixty years later, the hotel would burn to the ground on August 25. Below, a card dated 1940, shows both the hotel and the previous courthouse, which was destroyed by fire in August 2006. The cards were loaned to us by Gene Miller. If you have a great “Photo of the Week” – from a long lost hotel to the Liberty bell, from long long ago or just the other day — why not lend it to The Morgan Messenger?
