Ice House rededication

The public can attend a ceremonial rededication of the Ice House on the art center's south lawn at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21. Major renovations have been underway.

Although work on the renovation is complete, occupancy permits have not yet been issued. An open-for-business grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, August 3. The Ice House is the home of the Morgan Arts Council (MAC.)

"We wanted to celebrate the next 150 years of West Virginia by rededicating MAC and the Ice House to its mission of getting art out there," said Jeanne Mozier, one of the organization's founding members. "June is also the anniversary of MAC receiving the deed to the building in 1996."

Mozier promises a short ceremony including appreciation of recent volunteer effort on the building as well as recognition of major donors. Refreshments will be served.

"There were about 40 people gathered outside the Ice House to receive the deed from US Silica 16 years ago," recalled Mozier. "Hopefully many of them will return."
