Paw Paw and environs...

by Robin Bunting

The Paw Paw Senior Citizens met at the Center on June 6 with 30 members and seven guests in attendance. President Brown Norton presided.

Norton recognized Senior Citizens for taking the grand prize for the “Silver Belles” float in the Memorial Day parade. Jo Musialowski coordinated the design and decoration of the float and other members of the Silver Belles helped to decorate along with Joel Tuttle and Brian Bender. Don Brady drove the truck and donated the use of his trailer, and Vince Martin donated the use of his truck to pull the float and the garage to store it.

Since the first Thursday in July is Independence Day and the Senior Center will be closed, there will not be a carry-in. Everyone was reminded of the festivities at the Bethel United Methodist Church on July 4.

Guests this month included Chris Strovel from Shelley Moore Capito’s office and Pattie Coan from the Eastern West Virginia Community Action Office.

Since there will be no “Spring Fling” this year, Joel Tuttle is organizing a mini Fling to be held at the Senior Center in Berkeley Springs on June 18. Bingo will begin at 10 a.m., the Silver Belles will sing at 11:30 am, and lunch will begin at approximately 12 noon. Tickets were limited to 80 tickets.

The Annual Hen Party will be held August 14 and will be regarded as a carry-in.

Jayne Abe provided this month’s birthday cake. July birthdays were also be celebrated since there will be no carry-in in July.

Earl Meyers said the blessing.
