Oak Glen shuts out Indians 42-0

This past Saturday, September 23, afternoon two 0-4 football teams met on a rainy afternoon at Morgan Field in search of their first win of the 2023 season.

Berkeley Springs welcomed Oak Glen to town and the Indians were hoping that with a rare Saturday after- noon game and the rainy weather that it would be able to secure their first win over the Golden Bears.

Instead, it was the visitors from New Cumberland, that dominated the Indians from start to finish to keep Berkeley Springs winless on the season. The opening kickoff set the tone as Oak Glen re- turned the kick 97 yards for a touchdown and from there the momentum was on the Bears’ side. Oak Glen took a 16-0 lead into the half.

In the second half, Oak Glen scored 26 unanswered points to increase their lead to 42-0, which ended up being the final score. The Indians struggled offensively the entire game and was outgained 283-50 in total yards.

Berkeley Springs (0-5) will travel to Philip Barbour (4-0) this coming Friday, September 29 for a 7 p.m. contest with the undefeated Colts.
