Haden Fincham, Kennedy Shives, #1 boy’s doubles and #3 girl’s doubles capture PVC Titles

There is no greater feeling than playing on your home courts with a home crowd watching as Berkeley Springs High School tennis players showcased their talents. That feeling was even better as the hometown tennis program crowned PVC champions Haden Fincham (#1 singles) and Kennedy Shives (#3 singles), #1 boy’ s doubles Fincham and Brandon Pindell and #3 doubles Bryn Dudash and Ivy Hale. To top it off the Lady Indians surprised the PVC field and walked away as the 2022 PVC team champions.

The 2022 PVC tournament started on Friday, April 22 at 8 a.m. with the individual tournament and wrapped up on Saturday, April 23 with the doubles championships. Senior Fincham (#1 singles) won his third PVC individual title with a dominating performance. Senior Shives (#3 singles) won her first PVC individual title with some outstanding play. Junior Cardin Beal (#3 singles) finished as PVC runner-up. Junior Emma Christie (#2 singles) and sophomore Lilly Morgan (#4 singles) finished as PVC runner-ups.

On Saturday the #1 doubles team of Fincham and Pindell captured the PVC double title. Dudash and Hale then captured their first PVC doubles title at the #2 doubles. Finishing as PVC doubles runner-ups were Beal and Justin Brinegar (#2 doubles), Alejandro Montaldo and Brent Baker (#3 doubles), Truly Henry and Christie (#1 doubles) and Morgan and Shives.

The Lady Indians were crowned PVC team champions as they outscored Frank- fort 14-11. The Indians finished in second place in the boy’ s competition with 12 points. Keyser took the boy’s team title.
