Dorothy Marie Hayes
We are immensely saddened to announce the passing of our deeply beloved Dorothy “Spud” Marie Hayes, 57, of Greensboro, N.C., who tragically passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at her sister’s home in Paw Paw, W.Va., near the home of her mother. She went to be with her father, the late Kenneth N. Hayes.
Dorothy was a fun-loving, high-spirited, loving yet tough person, with a deeply grounded soul who was passionate about her family, being outdoors in nature and the sun, tending to her plants, and coloring next to her dearly loved pets, Buster and Jaxson. She was a powerhouse of a woman who deeply cared for her family.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Lee Bishop Hayes, who resides in Paw Paw; her siblings, Kenneth Hayes, Nina Mann Hayes, Peggy Emerson and Kimberly Hayes, all of Paw Paw; her children, Katelynn Nichole Hayes of Paw Paw and Leah Dawn Crawford of Cumberland, Md., and their life partners, Dakota Shillingburg and Ralph Crawford. Her grandchildren who she deeply loved – Kameran Hayes, Sincere Decker, Brianna Decker, Brayden Crawford, Axle Shillingburg and Ashton Hayes Judge.
She will be greatly missed.
Her family will commemorate her life privately.
