Berkeley Springs to host fireworks on Friday, July 3

Travel Berkeley Springs and the Morgan County Commission will host their annual fireworks celebration on the grounds of Widmyer Elementary on Friday, July 3, this year celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

The public can find a spot on the grass in the area around the elementary school. Fireworks will be launched at dark.

Parking is available for free at Berkeley Springs High School and along local streets with limited parking at Widmyer school. Folks are encouraged to carpool to reduce traffic congestion.

Local law enforcement will be on hand to direct traffic.

Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter shared the following information about how traffic patterns will be directed on Friday, July 3:

The reserves will be directing traffic.  As in the past, if you park on the east side (Berkmore side) of U.S. 522, you will be sent north.  If you park on the west side (Widmyer Elementary side), you will be sent south.   The bypass should make it easier for people to get going the direction they need to go.

Drivers who are sent south but need to travel northbound can turn onto Sugar Hollow Road at ROCs to get to the U.S. 522 bypass to change direction.
