Denise Mary Sutton

1938-2026

Denise Mary Sutton, age 87, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born May 9, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Pray O’Neil.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Denise was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in business accounting and worked as a certified public accountant.

Denise enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching.

Denise is survived by her children, Andrea Dale Mallette of Beltsville, Md., Elizabeth Susan Sutton and John Patrick Sutton both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., two sisters, Sharon O’Neil and Diane Resick, one brother, Vincent O’Neil, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James O’Neil, Michael O’Neil and Thomas O’Neil.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 67 Liberty Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Rev. Fr. J. Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant. Burial will be private.
