Widmyer Elementary teacher charged with child abuse in classroom incident

A teacher at Widmyer Elementary School in Berkeley Springs has been charged with three counts of felony child abuse causing injury following an investigation by Sgt. S. R. Smith of the West Virginia State Police. An arrest warrant for Jazmyn F. Rohrer, 28, was issued on December 13, according to court records in Morgan County Magistrate Court. School officials said Rohrer was charged on December 16. Rohrer’s address is listed as Shepherdstown.

According to a criminal complaint against Rohrer, Sgt. Smith was contacted on Wednesday, December 11 by Assistant Superintendent Jeromy Duelley regarding an incident at Widmyer Elementary the day prior. The complaint says three classroom aids reported seeing Rohrer physically assault a 6 year old student on three separate occasions. All of the incidents were recorded by video and included audio, the complaint noted.
