Joseph Vernon Snidemiller

1949-2021

Joseph Vernon Snidemiller, age 72, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born March 28, 1949 in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Harvey and Barbara Ellen Toyer Snidemiller.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal.

Joe was a life member of the Risinger-Stotler VFW Post #4019 in Berkeley Springs, life member of Military Order of the Purple Heart, life member of the Disabled American Veteran, and a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Arie #824 in Winchester, Va.

He enjoyed fishing, watching western shows and movies, especially with Clint Eastwood, and loved spending time on his farm, farming the land.

Joe is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Lou Mason Snidemiller, at home; two daughters, Kandy Rae Walls and Amy Jo McCoy, both of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Teresa Holliday, of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Robert Snidemiller, of Berkeley Springs; four grandchildren, Joseph Christopher Walls, Jeremy Tyler Walls, Hunter David McCoy and Breanna Kaylee McCoy, all of Berkeley Springs; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Rae Walls, of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Snow; two brothers, Paul Snidemiller and Steve Snidemiller and one niece, Traci Snidemiller.

Services will be at a later date. Burial will be private.
