The Knights of Columbus Council 12191 will be holding their second annual Blue Mass next Thursday, September 10, at 6 p.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Berkeley Springs.
The Blue Mass will be honoring, recognizing, and praying for first responders from Morgan County, Washington County (Hancock), and Fulton County (Needmore), as well as honoring and remembering those first responders from September 11.
First responders will be doing readings and taking parts in other parts of the Mass.
They will include members of law enforcement, fire, EMS and 911 services.
There will be a moment of silence for those local first responders who have passed on, as well for those first responders killed on September 11 in the World Trade Center and Pentagon, followed by a bell ringing and “Taps.”
At the end of the Mass, a special blessing will be given to the first responders.
Everyone is welcome to attend the Mass, no matter your faith, and a small reception will be held after the Mass.
Retired or inactive firefighter, police officer, or EMS are more than welcome to attend and be seated with their respective group.
If your department received an invitation letter and you haven’t responded to the invite, the Knights ask that you contact the church office as soon as possible at 304-258-1311 or parishoffice@stvindepaulwv.com to specify if you will have some members in attendance.
