During 10 days of voting on The Morgan Messenger’s Facebook page, readers and followers picked their favorite top photo from the 2026 Morgan County Photo Contest with avid “likes” and complimentary comments.
With 54 votes, Kasey Perry’s photo, “Guardian of the Appalachians,” won the People’s Choice voting. West Virginia’s state bird, the cardinal in Perry’s closeup picture is in sharp detail, with a colorful sky as a backdrop.
Mindy Knipe’s closeup of a spider ensnaring a spotted lanternfly got the second-highest number of votes with 46 likes and inspired lots of comments appreciating the clarity of the image.
The 2027 Morgan County Photo Contest will kick off next March, so put it on your calendars!
