West Virginia performer and educator Mick Souter will visit Cacapon State Park on Saturday, July 11 for a 7 p.m. performance “All Aboard the Iron Horse: Songs and Stories about the History of America’s Railroads.”
The concert will take place at the North Patio of the state park, adjacent to the restaurant area. The State Park is located just outside of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

Admission is free to the public.
The show will include numerous sing-a-longs and performances on a wide array of instruments, including banjo, fiddle, auto harp, guitar, dulcimer, and mandolin. The singing will be interspersed with humorous and historically based stories that set-up the songs while adding an intriguing touch of historical context to the performance. The admission is free to the public, and the event is family friendly. This is presented in connection with the observance of America250 as well as the Bicentennial of the B&O Railroad.
Mick Souter is West Virginia’s leading educational performing artist who has made over 3,000 appearances at festivals, theaters, state parks and schools throughout West Virginia and several other states.
His dynamic performances and instrumental versatility have thoroughly delighted audiences of all ages over the past 30 years.
Mick Souter’s touring musical theater, takes the audience aboard this musical train excursion, from the early days of smoke belching steam locomotives to the streamlined diesel engines of today.
In yet another exciting program, Mick Souter is both the conductor and the engineer, transporting the audience through songs and stories about the heritage of Americas’ railroads, while stoking the boiler with some heaping shovelfuls of humor, historical anecdotes and audience participation!
The show includes songs by Jimmy Rodgers, Woody Guthrie, Steve Goodman, and the Kingston Trio, and makes stops along the way to meet the likes of John Henry, Casey Jones, Collis P Huntington, Stonewall Jackson and others who played significant roles in the story of the railroad.
