West Virginia State Police have charged a Great Cacapon man with multiple criminal offenses following a 911 call for a domestic in progress at a residence on Cacapon Road on Friday, June 26 at about 1:30 p.m.
The caller said a man, identified as Dennis M. Hull, 75, a convicted felon, was in the driveway waving a handgun, cussing and threatening people, according to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Trooper G.C. Warnick.
Five law enforcement officers responded to the scene, where they found Hull standing on the front porch.
Hull refused to give officers his name and date of birth, and so was put in mechanical restraints until the investigation was completed, according to the criminal complaint.
A family member gave consent for police to search the residence, where a .22 caliber rifle with the initials “DH” carved into the stock, and a loaded revolver were found.
Hull reportedly became enraged over a computer, knocking down another victim while putting his hands around their throat, according to the criminal complaint.
At the Berkeley Springs detachment of the West Virginia State Police, Hull failed to comply with processing procedures, becoming combative when told he was going straight to Eastern Regional Jail for resisting behaviors, according to the criminal complaint.
Troopers were forced to drag Hull outside, kicking and slapping, where he was secured in ankle shackles and transported to Eastern Regional Jail.
Hull was arrested and charged with two counts of prohibited person with firearm, brandishing a weapon, domestic battery, obstructing an officer, and battery on an officer.
Hull remains incarcerated on a $75,000 bond while he awaits a hearing.
