William Kirby Lewis
1960-2026
William Kirby Lewis, 65, of Berkeley Springs, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is finally pain free after living with stage IV metastatic breast cancer for ten years.
Born September 18, 1960 in Martinsburg, he is the son of Sharon Riner Lewis and the late William Walter Lewis.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Whisner; one son; two grandchildren; a sister, Melissa Kingora and her husband Mark; one niece, Maggie; and one nephew, Max; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dog, Scout.
He was a life-long Methodist and member of First United Church in Berkeley Springs.
Kirby was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having seen combat action in the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Vincennes.
Kirby was a true Renaissance man; he was an avid artist by trade, an accomplished chef, and a designer of kitchens, architectural changes and remodels.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home with Pastors Josh Rider and Ken Burkhart officiating. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hedgesville Cemetery.
