Janet Ruth Shiley Lopp

Janet Ruth Shiley Lopp, 90 of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and formerly of Inwood W.Va. died Monday, February 16, 2026 in Hardy, Va.
Born on December 29, 1935, she was the daughter of Thomas L. and Pearl Triggs Shiley. S
he was a member of the Berkeley Baptist Church for over 50 years. S
he was a graduate of Musselman High School and Hagerstown Business College.
Until her retirement, Janet worked at Pennsylvania Glass Sand, Inc. in Berkeley Springs as a secretary for their transportation department.
Janet, or Ruth/Aunt Ruth as many of her family and friends called her, was an outstanding cook and baker. One of her favorite things in life was to have her dining room table filled with people she loved and enjoying her cooking. She was always quick to feed friends and neighbors on a regular basis but especially if they were going through a difficult time. She also loved to just sit and chat over coffee with her many friends and especially her sisters.
She is survived by one son, Craig Lopp and wife Susan of Huddleston, Va., one granddaughter Lauren Wilson of Charlotte, N.C. and one grandson, Elliot Lopp. “Aunt Ruth” is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert K. Lopp and five brothers, Thomas Shiley, Jr., Max Shiley; Ray Shiley, Franklin Shiley, and James (Ted) Shiley; and six sisters, Catherine Greenwalt, Phyllis Triggs, Judy Hoover, Audrey Bender, Patricia Dodd and Joanne Plotner. She was the last direct descendent of Thomas and Pearl Shiley.
The services will be held at Brown Funeral Home’s South Berkeley Chapel on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joey Giles officiating. Family and friends will be received from 9-11 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Interment will be private at Union Chapel Cemetery in Berkeley Springs.
