Two-county investigation leads to arrest, drug charges

A joint drug investigation among the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Martinsburg Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) led to the arrest of two individuals in Morgan County last Wednesday, January 21.

According to police officials, an investigation into drug activities had led officers to focus on a residence on Goff Street in Berkeley Springs.

Two occupants of the residence had felony warrants and were wanted by police in Berkeley County.

Following coordination between the police agencies, Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter located the individuals driving in the 7000 block of Martinsburg Road and initiated a stop without incident.

Timica J. Johnson, 25, and Keesha Davenport, 28, both of Berkeley Springs were taken into custody by Morgan County officers and transported to the Morgan County Courthouse to be arraigned.

A search warrant was then executed at the Goff Street residence, where police reportedly located and seized cocaine base (crack cocaine), oxycodone and hydrocodone pills along with U.S. currency.

Davenport has been charged in Berkeley County with possession of controlled substances with the intent to deliver the drugs and conspiracy to possess and deliver drugs. No charges against Johnson were reported.

Berkeley County Sheriff Rob Blair said additional charges against both are pending as the investigation continues.

Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter said the working relationship between the two counties has been very positive. He noted that social media reports of a high-speed chase and the deployment of spike strips in the incident were false.
