Volunteers show up for “Operation save Christmas”

by Lisa Schauer

A dozen community volunteers showed up to help decorate Berkeley Springs State Park for the holidays on Saturday, November 15.

They put bows on light poles, decorated the gazebo, and hung lights on the garden arch.

Part of “Operation save Christmas,” volunteers meet at the “elf shack,” behind The Pines, the old hospital, down at 10 a.m. every Saturday in November.

“I’ve been helping out the older people,” said Aiden Waugh, 18, of Berkeley Springs.

Waugh is a member of the National Honor Society at Berkeley Springs High School and is studying to be an electrician at James Rumsey.

Next Saturday, the town’s Christmas tree will be decorated. Volunteers are still needed.
