Senior Night spoiled: Moorefield delivers crushing blow to Berkeley Springs

by Jamie Harris

What began as a night of celebration under the lights of Morgan Field quickly turned into a nightmare for the Berkeley Springs Indians, who suffered a staggering 63-6 defeat at the hands of the Moorefield Yellow Jackets in their final game of the 2025 season.

The evening started with heartfelt tributes to senior football players, cheerleaders and band members, but the mood shifted dramatically just seconds into the game.

Moorefield, entering with a 1-8 record, stunned the home crowd by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, setting the tone for a relentless onslaught that Berkeley Springs never recovered from.

The Yellow Jackets unleashed a ferocious offensive and defensive attack, steamrolling the Indians and racing to a 42-6 lead by halftime. Berkeley Springs struggled to find any rhythm, as Moorefield’s defense smothered their efforts and their offense scored at will.

The second half offered no respite. Moorefield added three more touchdowns, silencing the home crowd and sealing one of the most lopsided defeats of the season. With no official stats available, the scoreboard told the story: a 63-6 drubbing that marked the seventh straight loss for the Indians.

Berkeley Springs closes out the 2025 campaign with a 2-8 record, a season marred by missed opportunities and tough breaks. Despite the harsh ending, the night served as a poignant farewell to the seniors who gave their all to the program.

As the Indians head into the offseason, the focus will shift to rebuilding, regrouping and reigniting the fire for a stronger showing in 2026.
