The Paw Paw High School Cross Country team may have been small in numbers, but they showed big heart at the 2025 Potomac Valley Conference Championships held Tuesday at Frankfort High School.
With only three runners competing, the Pirates were unable to post a team score. However, their determination and grit were on full display as they tackled the challenging course alongside the region’s top athletes.
Leading the charge for Paw Paw was Taylor Carder, who crossed the finish line in 23:24.5, earning 42nd place overall. Close behind was Braylen Paul, clocking in at 23:44.9 for 44th place. Jennings Carder rounded out the trio with a time of 26:14, placing 47th.
Despite the lack of team scoring, the Pirates have consistently demonstrated resilience and dedication throughout the season. Their performance at Frankfort was no exception, as they continued to run with heart and pride.
Next up, the Pirates will head to Holly Gray Park in Braxton County for the Class A Region II Championships on Saturday, October 25, with races beginning at 10:45 a.m. With the season winding down, Paw Paw’s runners are looking to finish strong and represent their school with the same tenacity they’ve shown all year.
