The Berkeley Springs Lady Indians closed out their regular season in spectacular fashion Monday night, October 13, delivering a commanding 7-0 victory over the visiting Moorefield Yellow Jackets on the home turf of Morgan Field. The win not only marked a triumphant Senior Night celebration but also improved the Lady Indians’ overall record to an impressive 11-5 heading into postseason play.
From the opening whistle, emotions ran high as the Lady Indians took to the pitch with determination and pride. With five goals scored in the first half, the team quickly established dominance, showcasing sharp offensive execution and relentless pressure.




Senior Albani Cirigliano led the scoring charge with two goals, including a stunning strike directly off a corner kick that left fans and teammates in awe. Fellow senior Lilli Stevens and sophomore Abigail Close each added to the scoreboard, with Stevens netting one goal and Close contributing two. Junior Taylor Andrews and sophomore Reese Souders rounded out the scoring, with Souders’ goal coming off a well-placed assist from Stevens.
The Lady Indians’ offensive firepower was on full display, with a barrage of shots on goal: Albani Cirigliano – 9, Lilli Stevens – 7, Taylor Andrews – 4, Abigail Close – 3, Reese Souders – 3, Aviona Ambrose – 2 and Ally Norcross, Chloe Jackson and Avery Dhayer – 1 each
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Willow Rhoten stood tall with five crucial saves, preserving the shutout and anchoring a backline that refused to yield.
The second half saw the Lady Indians shift focus to refining their passing, communication, and strategic positioning, further demonstrating the depth and cohesion of the squad.
Following the match, the team honored its senior players for their dedication and contributions to the program: Albani Cirigliano, Aviona Ambrose, Lilli Stevens, Chloe Jackson and Scarlett Swink. Each was celebrated by teammates, coaches and fans in a heartfelt ceremony that highlighted their impact both on and off the field.
Looking ahead, Berkeley Springs enters the Class A-AA Region II Championships as the #2 seed. They will once again face Moorefield in the opening round on Wednesday, October 22 at 6 p.m., hosted at Morgan Field. The team and coaching staff are calling on the community to pack the stadium and wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Should the Lady Indians advance, they will host the winner of the #3 Pocahontas County vs. #6 Petersburg matchup on Saturday, October 25, with game time to be announced.
With momentum on their side and a community rallying behind them, the Lady Indians are poised for a strong postseason run.
