The Berkeley Springs Indians hit the road Friday night with high hopes of improving their season record to 3-2, but the Grafton Bearcats had other plans. Despite entering the game winless at 0-4, the Bearcats came out firing and stunned the visiting Tribe with a dominant performance, handing Berkeley Springs a 34-7 defeat.
Grafton wasted no time, jumping to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and setting the tone early. The Indians struggled to respond, and the Bearcats extended their lead to 21-0 by halftime, leaving Berkeley Springs searching for answers on both sides of the ball.

The second half brought more frustration for the Indians. Grafton added another touchdown in the third quarter to make it 27-0, and tacked on one more in the fourth to push the score to 34-0. Berkeley Springs finally got on the board late in the game, avoiding the shutout thanks to a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jalen Miller to wide receiver Jake Aulabaugh. Jacob Morgan’s extra point gave the Indians their lone score of the night.

With the loss, Berkeley Springs drops to 2-3 on the season and will now turn their attention to next week’s matchup at Southern Garrett in Oakland, Maryland. The Rams (1-3) are also coming off a tough loss, falling to East Hardy 46-19 in a non-league contest.
Both teams will be looking to bounce back and regain momentum as the season nears its midpoint. Kickoff is scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m., and the Indians will be aiming to regroup and reignite their offense on the road.
