Kirk Memorial draws hundreds, visit and comments from governor

Local community members organized and attended a large public memorial on Sunday for Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and Turning Point founder who was murdered during a speech at a Utah university on September 10.

The local memorial was organized by Howard Stone and included prayers, sermons by local clergy, music and comments from West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey about Kirk’s life and work.

Speakers talked about Kirk’s Christian faith, his willingness to have conversations about difficult topics and his drive to reshape the country to align with traditional values. There were calls for prayer, unity and a coming together for a greater good.

The event was held in Berkeley Springs State Park and lasted several hours, with attendees sitting and standing around the park’s gazebo where speakers shared their reflections on Kirk’s work, his Christian faith and the shortness but lasting impact of his life.
