Sewer line upgrades ongoing near Biser Street

The Warm Springs Public Service District (PSD) project to upgrade public sewer lines around Berkeley Springs is visible this week along Biser Street and U.S. 522 near Martinsburg Road.

Contractors are replacing an 8-inch sanitary sewer line with a 12-inch line from the area around Coldwell Banker eastward to connect to new lines being installed along Biser Street.

Scott Crunkleton with the PSD said the 12-inch line will run east to the area of the 522 Bypass. The Division of Highways had to move some sewer lines to build the bypass and the Warm Springs PSD asked them to replace that line with a larger pipe, anticipating growth around the bypass area, said Crunkleton.

Contractors have already bored under U.S. 522 to run the new line. They have replaced a manhole near the realty office and this week will set a new manhole in the parking lot of RWR Insurance and another toward Biser Street.

Trees and undergrowth were removed along the path of a public sewer upgrade project between U.S. 522 and Biser Street in Berkeley Springs.
