Paw Paw Pirates Cross Country ready for a strong 2025 season

by Jamie Harris

The Paw Paw Pirates cross country team is charging into the 2025 season with confidence and high expectations. With a small but determined roster, the Pirates are ready to make every mile count and continue building the program’s tradition of grit and growth.

Coaches Adam Carder and Paw Paw Principal Melinda Kasekamp, says this group has embraced the challenge of doing more with less. “Our numbers are low this season, but these athletes are putting in the work to make sure it doesn’t slow us down,” Carder said. “They’ve shown heart and commitment, and that’s going to carry us through the season.”

Leading the charge is senior state qualifier Taylor Carder, who is back and hungrier than ever to improve on last year’s finish. Taylor’s experience and leadership provide a steady example for younger runners, and his dedication during the offseason has set the tone for the entire team.

The Pirates’ schedule is packed with tough competition, which Coach Carder believes will help the runners gain valuable experience and sharpen their racing strategies heading into the postseason.

“Our goal is simple,” Carder explained. “Get better every meet, stay healthy and peak at the right time. If we do that, we’ll be ready to make an impact when it matters most.”

With a blend of seasoned leadership and relentless work ethic, the 2025 Paw Paw Pirates cross country team is ready to prove that success isn’t about roster size—it’s about the size of the effort put in every day.
