A Berkeley County man was killed on Sunday, August 17 along Winchester Grade Road in southern Morgan County when his motorcycle left the roadway shortly after 9:30 a.m.
According to Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter, Christopher Vincent Leone, 39, of Hedgesville was traveling toward Berkeley Springs on Winchester Grade Road following a riding partner when the accident occurred.
Leone was riding a 2025 Harley Davidson. The sheriff said a witness confirmed to police that they did not see the crash but had seen the motorcycles riding at “a high rate of speed” prior to the accident.
According to Sheriff Walter, Leone’s motorcycle went off the right-hand side of the roadway before hitting an embankment. Police said Leone’s riding partner did not know the crash had occurred until he reached Sheetz and noticed that Leone was no longer behind him.
The motorcycle was registered to a Hagerstown address, police said.
Sgt. Luke Shambaugh is the investigating officer in the case.
