West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey made a stop in Morgan County on Friday, August 15 after a visit to his home in Jefferson County on Thursday. Morrisey talked about the Eastern Panhandle’s business growth and efforts by state elected officials to remove “red tape” from business development by cutting regulations and streamlining permitting in the state.
Morrisey announced that the Morgan County Economic Development Authority would receive a $75,000 grant to be used toward site readiness at the 522 Industrial Park, making sure any available lot could be made ready for new owners.
EDA Director Lyn Goodwin said the Industrial Park has two open lots now available, and could have additional lots with some planning and development. Goodwin said the Paw Paw Industrial Park also has lots for sale.

Morrisey touted his microgrid bill, which allows oil, gas and coal power plants to be built on specific sites to attract data centers or other industrial users to West Virginia.
The governor said other industrial lots could be eligible for the site readiness grants if proposals were submitted to the state.
