Paw Paw Block Party brings back-to-school fun

A community block party was held at the municipal park in Paw Paw on Saturday, August 9.

Free backpacks, school supplies, hygiene items, shoes, clothes, and bags of produce were set out for anyone to grab.

Hot dogs, chips, fruit, and bottled water were given out by volunteers in the pavilion.

A watermelon eating contest was held in two heats on a picnic table, while a DJ played a mix of classic rock from the gazebo.

Community resource organizations and vendors were set up on the lawn with information, games and giveaways, from Starting Points to Life or Drugs, Boys & Girls Club,

The Paw Paw block party was organized by Audrey Morris with Starting Points, a local family support center.
