Fire companies from three states responded Monday evening to a structure fire west of Great Cacapon that ultimately destroyed a single-family home.
According to Morgan County 911 Director Marshall Younker, the fire call came in at 10:29 p.m. from neighbors who reported seeing flames at the single story home in the 2200 block of Youngblood Road.
Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company Chief Junior Hook was in command of the scene.
Responders reported the home had partially collapsed and then was fully engulfed. The house is considered a total loss.
There was no information available about occupants of the home. The Red Cross was not contacted for assistance in the incident.
A power line serving the structure was down, so Potomac Edison utility workers were called to the scene as well.
The last fire unit cleared at 2:06 a.m., according to Younker.
Youngblood Road was shut down during the fire response.
The fire took place just two houses away from the intersection of Youngblood and Nebo Roads.
Units that responded to contain the blaze came from Great Cacapon, Paw Paw, Berkeley Springs, South Morgan, Slanesville, Levels, Reynold’s Store, Hancock, Oldtown, Orleans, Hancock and Augusta. Longmeadow fire units responded as a station fill at Berkeley Springs. Washington County Rehab, Morgan County EMS, Hancock Rescue Squad, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and Deputy Reserves also assisted at the fire scene.
