Swink and Gray putting in work in the off season

As the summer winds down and the greens beckon, two rising stars from Berkeley Springs are poised to make their mark on the upcoming high school golf season.

Incoming freshman Cayden Swink and sophomore Owen Gray have al- ready showcased their talents at the recent Drive, Chip and Putt Competition held at the prestigious 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Va.

Swink, a standout from W arm Springs Middle School, dominated the competition with a stellar performance, claiming the top spot with a combined score of 157. His precision on the course was evident with a Drive score of 52, a Chip score of 40 and a Putt score of 65.

Following closely behind was Gray, who secured second place overall with an impressive combined score of 137. Gray’s consistent play included a Drive score of 42, a Chip score of 35 and a Putt score of 60, highlighting his steady approach and skillful execution.

Both Swink and Gray have dedicated their summer to honing their skills on the greens in preparation for the upcoming high school golf season. The season kicks off with official practices starting on August 4 at Cacapon Resort State Park, where the young athletes are expected to bring their A-game.

With their impressive showing at the Drive, Chip and Putt Competition and rigorous summer preparations, Swink and Gray are poised to lead Berkeley Springs High School’s golf team to success in the upcoming season.
