In October 2024, West Virginia State Police received a fraud complaint regarding funds removed from a Truist Bank account without the owners’ approval.
The bank had sent a letter to the account owners alerting them of activity to several online gaming sites, according to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Sergeant S.R. Smith with the West Virginia State Police.
A total of $46,432 went missing from the account between February and September 2024.
The account owners had confronted a family member, who was incarcerated at the time in Virginia, about the missing funds, according to the criminal complaint.
Jenny A. Strickland, 48, of Great Cacapon reportedly claimed she must have been using the “wrong” credit card.
Strickland was arrested by felony warrant on July 1 and charged with unauthorized use of an access device. She remains incarcerated at Eastern Regional Jail on a $20,000 bond.
