Schene is Bath mayor, council transformed by election

Voters inside the town limits of the Town of Bath have put new council dynamics in place following the municipal election on Tuesday, June 10.

Former councilman and local businessman Greg Schene takes the mayor’s seat after an unopposed race to replace Scott Merki, who did not seek re-election. Schene was voted in with 67 votes.

Recorder Susan Webster kept her seat without a challenge, gaining 63 votes.

Eight town residents had filed to run for five seats on the Bath council at the start of the municipal election season. By election day, just seven candidates remained after the passing of longtime town resident and candidate Rob Campbell.

Voters chose from among incumbents Rebecca MacLeod, David O’Connell, Mary Lynn Hickey, Elizabeth Skinner and challengers Ryan Kessel, Reba Dalson and former councilman Rick Weber.

At the end of early voting and election day tallies, the top five vote-getters to be the new Bath council will be Ryan Kessel (59 votes), Elizabeth Skinner (55 votes), Mary Lynn Hickey (47 votes), Reba Dalson (43 votes) and Rick Weber (41 votes).

MacLeod received 38 votes and O’Connell earned 23 votes.
