Local man arrested after pursuit on Pious Ridge Road

Police responded to a 911 call for a possible domestic disturbance in the 5200 block of Pious Ridge Road on Monday, May 26 at about 7:20 p.m.

Upon arrival of law enforcement cruisers, the suspect, identified as Bradley D. McCarty, 28, of Berkeley Springs, took off running into the woods, according to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Senior Trooper B.A. Meyers with the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Meyers pursued McCarty on foot, stopped him in the woods, and placed him under arrest for fleeing.

During transport, McCarty repeatedly banged his head on the glass, cursing and threatening officers, becoming so combative he was taken directly to Eastern Regional Jail, according to the criminal complaint.

McCarty remains incarcerated on a $25,000 bond for charges of obstruction, fleeing, assault on an officer, and attempted destruction of property.
