The Berkeley Springs Indians girls track and field team wrapped up their season this past weekend at the West Virginia Class AA State Track & Field Championships at Laidley Field in Charleston, showcasing determination, grit, and a record-setting performance.

Leading the way for the Lady Indians was senior Kaitlin Hageny, who soared to new heights in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 6 inches to establish a new school record and capture a third-place finish. Her outstanding effort earned her All-State honors, a first in her high school career and a fitting capstone to her time as an Indian.
Junior Aviona Ambrose competed in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 18.14 seconds in the preliminaries but missed advancing to the finals. Ambrose also joined forces with Maci Michael, freshman Abigail Close, and senior Delilah Rhoten in the 4×102.5 meter shuttle hurdle relay, where the group posted a time of 1:13.92, good for ninth place overall.
Freshman Abigail Close also raced individually in the 300-meter hurdles, securing 13th place with a time of 51.78 seconds in her first trip to the state meet, while sophomore Katie Risinger represented the Indians in the throws, finishing 12th in both shot put (30’ 7”) and discus (91’2”).
