Lions Club to hold fundraiser May 17-18 for Memphis Frey

The Berkeley Springs Lions Club will be holding a fundraiser at Charlotte’s Café on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 to benefit Memphis Frey, daughter of Robert and Megan Frey.

Memphis was born on December 4, 2024.  She was born with a cleft lip.  Memphis has Tetrasomy 10/trisomy 10 which means she has an extra set of chromosomes 10, affecting 17% of her DNA.  Memphis spent her first six days in NICU because she could not take in the volume of food she needed due to her lip and palate being deformed. She took a bottle well but got tired from it.  She originally had an ng-tube placed, down her throat.  Her parents opted for Memphis to have a g-tube placed in her belly at eight days old to allow her to get the amount of food she needs and to be able to come home.  This tube will remain until she is done with her palate surgery.

As of three months old she no longer needs the tube for feeding only for medications, since she is eating her full amount by bottle.  She will need to keep the feeding tube to help her with recovery.  Her plastic surgeon has already repaired half of her lip on March 25.  Her second surgery is scheduled for July 15 and will be a full lip repair when she is seven and a half months old.

The Berkeley Springs Lions Club will be having a buffet at Charlotte’s Café to benefit Memphis and her family.  She will need multiple surgeries and appointments at WVU Morgantown hospital.

The Lions will have a donation jar at Charlotte’s Café and the café will donate 25% of their sales to the family.  Charlotte’s Café will be having a buffet all weekend to support the family.  If you have any questions, contact Charlotte’s Café at 304-500-2629.
