Wilbur Clifton Adams

1940-2025

Wilbur Clifton Adams, age 84, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born November 25, 1940 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Eugene William and Sarah May Gilley Adams.

He was Christian and attended Mt. Zion Orleans Community Church.

Wilbur was a high school graduate. He worked as a maintenance engineer with A & P Bakery.

Wilbur enjoyed wood crafting especially making walking sticks.

Wilbur is survived by his wife, Betty Lee VanHorn Adams, seven children, Deborah Sands, Michael C. Adams, William C. Adams, Sharon McCain, Thomas B. Resh, Pat Resh and Dawn M. Cosme, one sister, Jackie Adams, one brother, Charles Adams, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tony Resh, two sisters, Betty Bees and Gloria Love and one brother, Jimmy Adams.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Mt. Zion Orleans Community Church, 4581 Orleans Road, Great Cacapon, WV, with Pastor Tony Pironne officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wilbur’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
