In Loving Memory of

Julie Yvonne Mills

February 14, 1969 – April 23, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Julie Yvonne Mills, who passed away unexpectedly in her home in Ruskin, Fla., on April 23, 2025, at the age of 56.

Born Julia Yvonne Simms on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1969, she brought warmth and love into the world from her very first day. She was raised in South Lancaster, Mass., and attended school in Bolton, Mass., where she began shaping the deeply kind and compassionate spirit that defined her throughout her life.

She moved to Berkeley Springs, W.Va. at a young age and where she raised her three daughters.

She was the beloved daughter of Donald Simms and Joyce Perrone (Rocco) and was preceded in death by her cherished daughter Danielle Simms.

The survival of early trauma and loss of her daughter shaped her journey, yet she carried herself with grace, strength and an ever-present hopefulness that inspired those around her.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Mills, her loving sister Melissa Wright, her brother Jason Spriggs, her two daughters – Emily Somers and Amanda Wingo, five grandchildren and four nephews and nieces.

Those who knew her will remember her as someone who gave endlessly of herself – always kind, always thoughtful and always opening her heart to others, even while quietly carrying battles no one else could see. She poured her love into her family and found joy in cultivating beauty – planting and tending to gardens that reflected her troubled, yet gentle spirit. She had a way of bringing people together, creating warmth and connection wherever she went. Her strength was quiet but unwavering and the depth of her impact is something many will continue to feel, even if they never fully realized it at the time.

A memorial service will be held at Greenway Cemetery on May 17 at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon to celebrate her life at Cacapon State Park Lodge at 12:45 p.m. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share their memories. She will be missed more than words can express and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her.
