Bath council approves downtown parking changes for events

Town of Bath officials have approved several special requests about parking meters and street activities tied to upcoming events in Berkeley Springs.

“Bringing in the May’

Parking meter closures to accommodate the set-up for the annual “Bringing in the May” fairies festival in Berkeley Springs State Park was approved by the Bath Town Council at the May 6 meeting. The festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18.

To allow food trucks and vendors to unload/reload, the council approved closing one parking meter next to the park on West Fairfax Street and parking meters on South Washington Street in front of the park on Friday, May 16 from 5 p.m. to Sunday, May 18, 7 p.m.

“Hey Girlfriend”

Approval was given by the Bath Town Council on May 6 for two town parking meters to be closed on Independence and Wilkes streets on Saturday, June 7 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate the “Hey Girlfriend Weekend” outside sale in front of Inspired Chaos at 47 Independence Street.

Fiesta Mercer Street

Mi Ranchito Mexican restaurant owner Oscar Robles received permission by the Town of Bath Council on May 6 to close Mercer Street to Union Street on June 28 from 1 to 9 p.m. for an anniversary party celebration for being a town business for 25 years.

Robles said he “wanted to give back” to the town with a “Fiesta Mercer Street” beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 28.
