Individuals and businesses who were affected negatively by the April 19 microburst storm that cut power and downed trees and power poles are being asked to share their storm damage information with state emergency officials.
Local Office of Emergency Services director Jason Hoover has been distributing links to a survey which will compile storm damages.
Hoover said participating in the survey won’t necessarily connect property owners or businesses with funding or assistance, but can give state officials a clearer picture of the storm effects.
The WV Emergency Management Division is attempting to collect storm damage information and have provided a QR Code and a link to the survey form.
The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) does have an Individual Assistance Program for households and individuals.
FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) provides financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by a disaster, who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs.
“While FEMA IA does not cover businesses, we encourage businesses to fill out the survey. This information will be passed along to the Small Business Administration (SBA),” said state emergency officials.
