The Berkeley Springs High School tennis teams hit the road and their home courts in a busy stretch of match play this past week, notching several key victories as both squads continue to develop momentum heading into the heart of their spring schedule.
On Tuesday, April 1, the Tribe traveled to Inwood to face the Musselman Applemen in boys’ and girls’ action. The boys’ team delivered a strong performance, earning a 5-2 team win which was their second victory of the season.
Boys Highlights
#3 Singles: Landon Litten picked up his first singles win of the season in commanding fashion, 8-1.
#4 Singles: Brody Beal claimed a forfeit win (8-0).
#1 Doubles: Braden Brine- gar & Brody Beal battled to a thrilling 9-7 tiebreak win, their first doubles win at the top spot this season.
#2 Doubles: Connor Havermale & Landon Litten earned an 8-0 forfeit win.
#3 Doubles: Kyle & An- drew Bland were also victorious by an 8-0 forfeit.
The Lady Indians also had cause to celebrate, as they picked up their first wins of the season in a hard-fought match.
Girls Highlights
#1 Singles: Emilee Fleece dug deep for an 8-5 win.
#4 Singles: Tanner Emerick captured a confident 8-3 victory.
#1 Doubles: The team of Emilee Fleece & Chloe Jack- son teamed up to take the win, 8-6.
On Saturday, April 5, the Warm Springs Tennis Courts were buzzing with action as the Tribe hosted a double- header against Wheeling Central and East Fairmont.
Against Wheeling Central
#2 Girls Singles: Chloe Jackson claimed an 8-6 win.
#3 Boys Singles: Landon Litten continued his strong week with a dominant 8-0 shutout.
#3 Boys Doubles: Kyle & Andrew Bland also posted an 8-0 win.
Against East Fairmont
#2 Girls Singles: Chloe Jackson remained steady with an 8-2 victory.
#4 Girls Singles: Tanner
Emerick secured another win, 8-4.
#3 Girls Doubles: Emma Frame & Alaina Buell cruised to an 8-0 victory.
The Tribe faces a packed schedule this week as they prepare for postseason play: Monday, April 7, away at Petersburg; Tuesday, April 8, away at Keyser; Wednesday, April 9 at home against Bishop Walsh; Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, PVC Championships at Keyser.
The Indians improves to 2- 6, while the Lady Indians moves to 2-8 on the season. With the PVC tournament looming, Berkeley Springs looks to keep building momentum and sharpening their play as they aim for strong finishes in conference competition.
