Morgan County Dual Track & Field Meet highlights Paw Paw and Warm Springs Middle School standouts

The Morgan County Dual track and field meet showcased the talents of young athletes from Warm Springs Middle School and Paw Paw Middle School. The girls’ events featured several impressive performances across multiple disciplines, with many athletes setting personal records (PR) in their respective events.

In the 100-meter dash, Warm Springs’ Adrianna Loya led the field, finishing with a time of 15.75 seconds (PR), narrowly edging out teammate Rylee Yost (15.83 PR). Ava Michael secured third place with a strong 16.01 PR.

Michael also dominated the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 33.48 PR. Paw Paw’s Iris Helmick followed with a time of 38.14 PR, and Warm Springs’ Ava Cain took third at 38.54 PR.

Ainsleigh Coulter (Warm Springs) claimed victory in the 400-meter race with a PR of 1:22.29, while McKenna Saville (1:26.75 PR) and Kylee Potts (1:35.04 PR) rounded out the top three.

Brooke Miller of W arm Springs was dominant in the 800 meters (3:04.98 PR) and extended her success into the 1600 meters, finishing first with a time of 6:33.89 PR. Teammate Ellie Rosensteel secured second in the 1600 meters with a 7:27.06 PR.

Warm Springs swept the hurdles, with Caroline Close winning both the 100m hurdles (20.22 PR) and the 200m hurdles (36.36 PR). Estella Powell (21.43 PR) and Stella Close (23.79 PR) followed in the 100m hurdles, while Stella Close (42.00 PR) and Aleora Cannon (45.07 PR) completed the podium in the 200m hurdles.

Warm Springs Middle School dominated the relay races:

4×100 Relay: Caroline Close, Adrianna Loya, Estella Powell and Rylee Yost secured victory with a time of 1:02.80.

4×400 Relay: Ainsleigh Coulter, Ava Michael, Rylee Yost and McKenna Saville finished first in 5:28.98.

4×60 Shuttle Hurdles: Aleora Cannon, Ava Cain, Ellie Rosensteel and Adrianna Loya completed the race in 56.57 for another Warm Springs victory.

Shot Put: Paw Paw’s Audrey Weaver took first place with a throw of 22-02 PR, followed closely by Warm Springs’ Ruby Lampson (21- 09 PR) and Abbie Springer (15-04 PR).

Discus: Lampson claimed first place in the discus event with a 49-08 PR, while Paw Paw’s Weaver (41-10 PR) and Warm Springs’ Springer

(30-00 PR) finished second and third, respectively.

Long Jump: Ava Michael led the event with an 11-05 PR, followed by Powell (11- 01 PR) and Stella Close (9-11 PR). Paw Paw’s Sarai Nunez recorded an 8-11 SR to finish fourth.

Though no marks were recorded in the high jump event, athletes Rylee Yost, Caroline Close and Sofie Risinger represented Warm Springs Middle School in competition.

The Morgan County Dual meet highlighted the dedication and skill of these young athletes. Warm Springs Middle School demonstrated strong performances across all events, while Paw Paw Middle School had standout performances in the throws and sprints. With many PRs set, the future looks bright for track and field in Morgan County.
