As spring approaches, Berkeley Springs High School’s baseball team gears up for an exciting season under the guidance of second-year head coach Quintin Thompson. With a roster brimming with talent and promising newcomers, the Indians are set to tackle the challenges ahead with vigor.
Seniors Kyle Rankin, Chase Stotler, Jayden Michael and Jaxon McClintock headline the squad’s experienced core. Rankin and Stotler, known for their prowess on the mound, will anchor the pitching rotation, while Michael’s leadership at first base will fortify the infield defense. McClintock’s versatility promises to be a valuable asset across multiple positions.
The team looks to capitalize on the varsity experience gained by sophomores Kyle Moore, Jalen Miller and Shawn McCumbee. Moore, who will split time between the outfield and the pitcher’s mound, joins McCumbee in bolstering the outfield defense. Miller, along with Landon Stotler and Lewis Shifflett, is slated to provide solid contributions at the corners and designated hitter positions.
Freshmen Conner Maconaughey, Caiden Groves and Liam Coffman bring fresh talent to the lineup. Maconaughey and Groves, despite their youth, are expected to anchor the middle infield, showcasing their defensive prowess early in their high school careers. Groves will also step up behind the plate, supporting Rankin during his pitching duties.
“We’re going to be really young this year,” Coach Thompson commented, “but our sophomores gained valuable varsity time last season. They’re ready to step up, and we’ll rely on them heavily.” He highlighted the team’s strengthened competition for starting positions and emphasized the positive team chemistry and culture that has flourished this season.
With a mix of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers, Berkeley Springs High School baseball anticipates an engaging season ahead.
