Richard Allen “Highball” High
1961-2025
Richard Allen “Highball” High, 63, of Berkeley Springs, passed Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 27, 1961, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Dorothy Emmons.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bud Emmons and brothers, Marvin High and Elmer Emmons.
Richard attended Southern Fulton High School.
He was always a clown and never met a stranger who he couldn’t talk to. Richard made many supportive and loving friends along the way who were like brothers and sisters. Richard loved his family. He loved going to his granddaughter’s softball games and taking care of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of forty four years, Carol (Cain) High; two daughters, Jess Casper (Tony) and Jennifer High; five grandchildren, Hannah High, Logan Casper, Madison Nuice, Travis Palmer and Emma Geissinger; siblings, Dorothy and Wanda Emmons, Sam, Robin and Kenneth High, Linda Kesselring and Betty Staley and great-grandma, Joann Price; as well as his “kids” on the ridge and a very big extended family. “We will forever miss you and you will always be in our hearts. We love you always.”
Pastor Brandon Hill officiated the funeral service, which was held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Grove- Rogowski Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Interment followed at the Bethel Independent Cemetery in Sleepy Creek, W.Va.
Pallbearers were Logan Casper, Jake and Billy Mitchell, Bobby, Bo and Mark Cain.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD.
