The Morgan County School Board approved a number of financial and budget items at their Febru- ary 4 meeting along with approving the first reading of a number of policies.
HVAC pay applications
The school board approved Pay Application 11-A total- ing $5,842 for the Morgan County Schools School Building Authority Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HV AC) Replacement Project for Berkeley Springs High School as approved by Williamson Shriver Architect, Inc.
The board also approved Pay Application 10-B total- ing $10,043.10 for the Morgan County Schools School Building Authority HV AC Replacement Project for Widmyer Elementary as approved by Williamson Shriver Architect, Inc. Leadership Summit
The school board approved Summer McClintock and Rebecca Huber to attend the HMH District Leadership Summit in Nashville, Tennessee on March 5-7. The funding source is HMH.
The board also approved school support organizations that will collect funds in the name of the school for the 2024-2025 school year.
Policies
The Morgan County School Board had a first reading of a number of policies at the meeting. They included Policy 2230.01-Program of Study Middle School; 2230.02-Program of Study High School Program (Grades 9-12); 2451-Alternative School Programs; 4113- Conflict of Interest; 4120.01-Food Service Personnel; 4120.12-Areas of Critical Need and Shortage for Substitute Bus Operators; and 5530.02 Career Technical Education and Work Place Simulation Drug Free Policy.
Additional policies considered were 6110-Federal Funds; 6111-Internal Controls; 6112-Cash Management of Grants; 6114-Cost Principles-Spending Federal Funds; 6325-Procurement- Federal Grants/Funds; 6550- Travel Payment and Reimbursement; 7310-Disposition of Personal Property and 7450 Property Inventory.
The policies will be posted on the Morgan County Schools website for 30 days for public comment.
Special Education audit
School Superintendent David Banks said a special education audit is coming up in a couple of weeks that will involve a lot of time for Special Education Director Nicole Hiles and her department staff. Banks was sure that the audit would go smoothly.
