The Morgan County School Board adopted their 2025-2026 school calendar Option I after a second public hearing at their February 18 meeting, which was held at Berkeley Springs High School.
Morgan County Schools Assistant Superintendent Jeromy Duelley gave a presentation on the 2025-2026 school calendar options at the February 4 Morgan County School Board meeting. He also conducted the first and second School Calendar hearings, summarizing the two calendar options for the coming school year. 
Duelley said that both calendar options were very similar except for a few details. Duelley said that after the second calendar hearing at the February 18 school board meeting at Berkeley Springs High School, they would be recommending the Morgan County Schools 2025-2026 School Calendar Option 1 for adoption.
Calendar features
The adopted Morgan County Schools 2025-2026 School Calendar Option I has the first day of school instruction for students as August 19, 2025.
There will be a full week’s break at Thanksgiving from 11/24/25-11/28/25. Students will return to school on December 1.
Christmas, spring break
School Calendar Option 1 has students having two weeks off at Christmas from 12/22/25-1/2/26. Students return to school on January 5, 2026.
Students will have a full week off at spring break. Spring break runs from 4/06/26 to 4/10/26. Students return to school on April 13, 2026.
The tentative last day of school for students under School Calendar Option 1 is May 29, 2026.
The last day of the employment term for 200-day contract employees is 6/1/26.
Professional learning days
Staff professional learning days in the adopted School Calendar Option I are 8/14/25, 8/15/25, 10/20/25, 1/12/26 and 3/23/26, said Duelley. Students don’t attend school on professional learning days. Option 1 professional learning days will fall on Mondays. The first two dates are before students return to school on August 19.
Faculty Senate Days
Under the adopted Morgan County Schools 2025-2026 School Calendar Option I Faculty Senate Days are 8/12/25 ,along with two-hour early dismissals for students on 10/10/25, 12/19/25, 2/13/26, 4/3/26 and 5/29/26, said Duelley.
Holidays
Annual holidays include Independence Day-July 4, Labor Day-September 1, Veterans Day-November 11, Thanksgiving Day-November 27, Christmas Day-December 25, January 1-New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr’s Birthday-January 19, Memorial Day-May 25 and West Virginia Day-June 19.
Good Friday falls on April 3, 2026 and Easter is on April 5, 2026.
