Paw Paw Pirates dominate Hancock in convincing victory

The Paw Paw Pirates put together a commanding performance on Saturday, February 22, rolling past the Hancock Panthers 74-52 in a road victory at Hancock High School.

The Pirates came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring the Panthers 19-12 behind an aggressive offensive attack. Paw Paw extended their lead in the second quarter, holding Hancock to just three points while adding 16 of their own to take a commanding 35-15 halftime lead.

Hancock showed resilience in the third quarter, clawing back with a 22-point effort, but the Pirates stayed steady and maintained control with 16 points of their own. Paw Paw sealed the deal with a dominant 23-point fourth quarter, securing the 74-52 victory.

Senior standout Donnie Tanouye led the charge with an outstanding all-around performance, tallying 34 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and seven steals. His dominance on both ends of the floor set the tone for the Pirates.

Taylor Carder provided crucial support with a double- double of 19 points and 13 rebounds, along with one assist. Braylen Paul chipped in 11 points and two steals, while Nathan Dick contributed four points and six rebounds. Jennings Carder added six points and four rebounds to round out the Pirates’ balanced ef- fort.

With the victory, Paw Paw continues to build momentum as they head toward the final stretch of the season. Their offensive firepower and defensive intensity were on full display against Hancock, demonstrating why they are a force to be reckoned with.

The Pirates will look to keep the momentum going in their next matchup as they prepare for another crucial contest on the road. With Tanouye and company leading the way, Paw Paw appears primed for a strong finish to the season.
