Berkeley Springs Indians Basketball has strong week with 2-1 record

The Berkeley Springs Indians had an eventful week on the court, finishing with a solid 2-1 record in their recent matchups.

The week kicked off on Tuesday, February 18, as the Indians hosted a thrilling game against the Clear Spring Blazers. In a tight contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Berkeley Springs secured a hard- fought 53-49 victory. Leading the charge in scoring were Jake Aulabaugh with an impressive 15 points, sup- ported by Landen Schetrompf and Brennan Hoover each contributing 8 points. Shawn Bland added 12 points to the tally, while Bethel George chipped in 5 points. Landon Stotler made his presence felt with 15 re- bounds and 1 point, with Joe Houdersheldt rounding out the scoring with 4 points.

On Thursday, February 20, the Indians traveled to face the Moorefield Yellow Jackets, looking to continue their winning momentum. Despite a strong effort, Berkeley Springs fell short, with Moorefield establishing a commanding 31-20 halftime lead en route to a 53-40 victory. Landen Schetrompf led the scoring effort with 17 points, complemented by Brennan Hoover’s 9 points and Jake Aulabaugh’s 6 points. Bethel George added 2 points, with contributions from Shawn Bland (4 points), Landon Stotler (4 points) and Joe Houdersheldt (2 points).

Friday night marked a special occasion as the Indians celebrated Senior Night against the Hancock Panthers. Berkeley Springs honored seniors Bethel George, Jayden Michael, Shawn Bland, Landen Schetrompf, Joe Houdersheldt and manager Conner Hoover in a memorable matchup. The Indians dominated from the start, jumping to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 28-13 by half- time. The momentum carried through the second half as Berkeley Springs continued to execute offensively, securing a convincing 63-39 victory.

Landen Schetrompf led the scoring effort with 15 points, followed closely by Bethel George with 13 points. Jayden Michael contributed 2 points, with additional support from Brennan Hoover (7 points), Jackson Ambrose (3 points), Kyle Moore (6 points), Landon Stotler (5 points), Brian Ailor (2 points) and Joe Houdersheldt (7 points).

With this successful week behind them, Berkeley Springs (10-10) looks ahead to their upcoming challenges. They faced an away contest against Keyser on Monday, February 24, followed by a road trip to Petersburg on Thursday, February 27. Junior varsity action begins at 6 p.m., with varsity matchups following at 7:30 p.m.

The Indians are poised to finish the season strong, building on their recent performances as they strive for continued success on the court.
