The Berkeley Springs Lady Indians basketball team faced a challenging week, dropping two contests against Clear Spring and Frankfort. Despite the losses, the young squad showed flashes of promise and resilience.
In a home game on January 15, the Lady Indians suffered a 35-51 defeat to Clear Spring High School. The game saw Berkeley Springs start strong, scoring 13 points in both the first and final quarters. However, a tough second and third quarter proved costly as the visitors pulled away.

Sophomore Katie Risinger delivered an impressive performance, leading the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Maddie Close contributed across the board with 11 points, 4 assists and 6 steals, while sophomore Hailey Adkins added 4 points and 5 rebounds.
On January 16, the Lady Indians traveled to Frankfort High School, where they faced another tough opponent. Berkeley Springs battled but came up short in a 41-59 loss.
Katie Risinger once again led the way with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Junior Maddie Close added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman Kaya Delauter chipped in with 5 points and 4 rebounds, while Hailey Adkins contributed 4 points. Freshmen Reese Souders and Maci Michael added 2 and 1 point, respectively, with notable defensive efforts on the boards.

Berkeley Springs (1-11) looks to bounce back with two upcoming matchups. The Lady Indians travel to Hampshire High School on Wednesday, January 22, and return home on Friday, January 24, to host Southern Fulton. Tip-off for both games is set for 7 p.m.
Despite the recent results, the Lady Indians continue to grow and develop as a team, with young players like Risinger and Close stepping into leadership roles and freshmen making key contributions.
