Madeline Parr
1923-2025
Madeline (Nelson) Parr passed from her earthly life on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Weidner, in Paw Paw, W.Va. Madeline was 101 years, 11 months, and 10 days old. She passed into the waiting arms of Jesus, and her beloved husband, Warren, who preceded her in death in 2018. They were married 74 years and will celebrate her 102nd birthday in Heaven. Forever together!
Born February 2, 1923, in Summers County, W.Va., to Charles and Mary Nelson, Madeline was preceded in death by all her siblings: two infant siblings, Loyd, Cora, Oker, Happ, Losee, Cleo, Willard, Howard, Clark and Lehman.
Madeline worked as a seamstress at Interwoven in Berkeley Springs and Schoeneman’s of Winchester until her retirement.
She and Warren then enjoyed many years of travel and covered the states from Alaska to Hawaii. They also visited the Holy Land.
Madeline’s family was blessed with a loving, caring matriarch whose constant prayers, support, and words of wisdom will be truly missed. She loved to read, color in adult coloring books, do word puzzles, and spend time with her family. She loved her Lord and her church, Woodrow Union, where she was deeply involved.
She served as a Sunday School teacher and Bible School director and loved being a part of the yearly Christmas play where she starred as “Petunia.” She was an unforgettable woman and a true inspiration.
Surviving is a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Weidner (Walt) of Paw Paw, W.Va., a son, Philip Parr (Audrey) of Nixa, Mo., grandchildren: Jeff Small (Allison), Chaunette Small, David Small (Tricia), Bryan Crane (Kelli), Russell Weidner (Shannon) and great-grandchildren: Abella and Maddie Small, Aryonna Stotler, David and Warren Small, Kendall, Brooke, and Rusty Weidner, Courtney Ray, and Camryn Crane, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Woodrow Union Church, Paw Paw, W.Va. Friends will be received on Friday, January 17, from 6-8 p.m. and again at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday with Rev. Nathan Travis and Rev. Ken Burkhart officiating. Interment will follow in Woodrow Cemetary.
